Real Estate Investment Securities
is a term with some closely-related meanings in finance
and economics. It refers to the addition of some kind
of asset in hopes of receiving a future return from
real estate investment which is made. Literally, the
word means the "action of putting something in
to somewhere else" (perhaps originally related
to a person's garment or 'Investment'). |

(1) Real estate “Issuer” means any person who
issues or proposes to issue any security, except that:
(2) Real estate investment “Person” means an
individual, a corporation, a partnership, an association,
a joint-stock company, a trust where the interest of the beneficiary
are evidenced by a real
estate investment securities in Canada, an unincorporated
organization, a government, or a political subdivision of
a government.
(3) “Sale or sell” means every contract of sale
or disposition of real estate investment securities in Canada
or interest in a security for value.
(4) Real estate “Security” means any note, stock,
treasury stock, bond, debenture, evidence of indebtedness,
certificate of interest, or participation in any profit-sharing
agreement, collateral-trust certificate, return
on real estate investment , reorganization certificate
or subscription, transferable share, real estate investment
securities in Canada contract, voting-trust certificate, certificate
of deposit for a real estate security, certificate of interest,
or participation in an oil, gas, or mining title or lease,
or in payments
out of real estate investment under such a title or lease,
or, in general, any interest or investment commonly known
as a “security,” or any certificate of interest
or participation in, temporary or interim certificate for,
receipt for, assurance of, or warrant or right to subscribe
to or purchase, any of the foregoing. “Security”
does not include any insurance or donation policy or annuity
contract under which an insurance company promises to pay
a fixed sum of money either in a lump sum or periodically
for life or for some other specified period in real
estate investment.
